Institute director Petre Stanciu said the forecast “does not seem to raise special issues”, but significant increases in water flows, expected particularly in April and June, cannot be overlooked.
"We could have bigger problems end April, early May and in June. In the first period, apart from the rain we expect, water flows will increase due to melting snow. Early June, the snow on mountain tops will finally melt, and we expect higher flows on all rivers and the Danube," Stanciu said.
He added that unlike the south and north of the country, the east and southeast regions will see major drought, as underground waters have not regenerated after the scorching temperatures in 2007.
