Last week’s derby between Rapid and Steaua was abandoned when Rapid fans threw stones and cigarette lighters onto the pitch. Referee Alexandru Deaconu ended the match in the 74th minute, after a stone struck him on the head, when Rapid were leading 1-0.

According to FRF rules, Rapid could be penalized with a 3-0 defeat, a 10-point deduction and have their stadium suspended.

Rapid officials strongly criticized the referee’s decision and challenged it at the FRF disciplinary commission. They asked the match be resumed from the 74th minute.
