Tariceanu pointed out during the ministry’s 2007 activity report meeting that the military equipment and devices are obsolete, stressing the army needs new equipment to prevent the government from major budget revisions in the future.

Tariceanu urged the ministry to ensure "a more flexible structure" of budget expenses, namely, to use budget funds to equip the army.
