Dutch Vimetco, owner of Romanian Alro Slatina, the biggest aluminum producer in Eastern Europe, and local InterAgro, specialized in the export of agricultural chemical fertilizers, set up a joint venture to build a high-capability power plant near the city of Turnu Magurele, southern Romania.

The new company will be called TM Power SA, and will implement a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of minimum 1,000 MW.

Alro and InterAgro are both major power consumers in Romania. The company has a constant energy consumption of approximately 450 MW.

Vimetco is a global, vertically integrated producer of primary and processed aluminum products operating in the Nederlands, China, Romania and Switzerland.
