US Emerson Opens EUR120M Factory In Romania

The investment is estimated at about EUR120 million.

"I think that Emerson came to Cluj because it found skilled workforce, support from local authorities and a developed infrastructure, which allows rapid access to selling products all around the world," US ambassador in Romania Nicholas Taubman said.

Works at this project began in 2006, with an initial investment of EUR75 million, but rose to EUR 120 million thereafter. Emerson factory in Cluj employs about 200 persons, and estimated the number of employees would reach 500 in one year.

Worldwide, Emerson has about 120,000 employees, of which 23,000 in Europe. The company’s international sales totaled $11.6 billion in fiscal year 2007.
