“There was no danger to the workers or people living near the plant and no harm to the environment,” the statement said.
The plant’s two reactors will be turned on again by Thursday, Nuclearelectrica said.
“The power lines snapped by the storm have been repaired and the two reactors will be turned on in 36 hours and then connected to the power grid in eight to ten hours, Thursday evening,” Nuclearelectrica’s general manager Teodor Chirica said.
The plant in Cernavoda operates with two reactors, which provide around 18% of the country’s power needs, but it has initially been designed to have five reactors, 700 Megawatt each, on Canadian CANDU-type technology.
