Romania, Italy Intensify Police Cooperation – Int Min

David, who was recently in an official visit in Rome, said that he offered concrete solutions, especially regarding police cooperation between the two countries, and that the Italian authorities accepted his suggestions.

“I have requested the setting up a joint work group formed of Romanian and Italian officials to analyze the law package on security measures enacted by the Italian government. I believe this law package should be analyzed from the legal point of view as well, namely the expulsion method and the decrees issued by prefects. An increased cooperation between Romanian and Italian police should be developed as well, and this is the modality most efficient and easy to enact,” David said in a press conference.

He said both Romanian and Italian police forces have the same goal, to reduce crime levels.

Last week, Italy‘s new interior minister announced the authorities plan to re-impose border controls for travelers from Europe‘s passport-free Schengen zone as part of security measures to fight crime and immigration.
