Morariu said the Ministry of Tourism welcomes the EU funds granted trough the Regional Operational Program, especially since the funding is meant for upgrades in the existing buildings, which are “usually below standards,” and not for new hotels.
She said tourism infrastructure is “vital” and that the “gorgeous attractions, such as monasteries, are useless without proper access routes or toilets.”
The EU funds are meant to capitalize Romania’s tourism potential and to make the country a real tourism destination, Morariu said.
