Police officers completed investigations on a complaint filed by Allianz-Tiriac Asigurari against a financial consultant, with whom the company had concluded a collaboration contract. The complaint stated accusations of fraud and forgery.

"Police investigations revealed that the insurance agent, throughout the unfolding of the insurance contract, deceived 120 insured people, to whom he promised unreal yields for the money  deposited on the investment side of the insurance policy," Ciocan said.

He added that 120 people were heard in the case, 33 of them filing criminal complaints against the insurance agent.

The total damage resulting from the fraud reached an approximate EUR3 million. The case file was forwarded to the prosecutors within the Bucharest Court with a proposition for jurisdiction surrender to the National Anticorruption Department.

Marius Onofrei, public relations director within Allianz-Tiriac Asigurari told MEDIAFAX that the agent had a mandate contract for the sale of life insurance policies with investment component (unit-linked).
