Tancredi Valerio Volpe and Cristina Nervo, owners of a transport company, killed Romanian Adrian Ioan Cosmin, aged 28, Italian daily La Repubblica reported in its online edition.
Since Cosmin had been working in their company without a contract for some two years, the Italian owners said a contract would only be concluded if Cosmin takes out a life insurance policy. The sole beneficiary of the policy is Cristina Nervo.
Cosmin’s charred body was found last Saturday in a car, in Italian locality Cavaion Veronese, found near Verona in northern Italy.
The incident was set to look like suicide, but the autopsy report revealed that the lungs did not contain any traces of smoke. The man had been sedated somewhere else, and later soaked in gasoline and placed in the car.
After extended interrogation, Cristina Nervo, aged 31, admitted to the murder, and was placed on house arrest as she has a several months old child. Her partner, aged 34, was also arrested.
