"I see that Mr. Traian Basescu keeps violating the Constitution lately, and if he continues on this path, he might be impeached again. It is hard for a party to gain over 50% in elections, but Mr. Basescu should expect surprises, because if we manage to form an alliance after elections, it will be hard for Basescu to appoint the prime minister he wants and have his minority government. He shouldn’t be so confident he can fool us like in 2004. We’ll make sure we gain majority and parliament and the we’ll talk,” Vacaroiu said.
In an interview Wednesday for local television station Tele M in Iasi, eastern Romania, Basescu warned liberals and social democrats not to make governing plans after legislative elections, as he plans to appoint a democrat prime minister to run a democratic-liberal government, be it a minority government or not.
