Police sources told MEDIAFAX that Fasola was caught around 14:30 local time, in an acquaintance’s house in Petricani, Neamt county, eastern Romania.
Fasola will appear before the Bacau county Court of Appeal, for a confirmation of the arrest warrant.
The suspect was arrested by police officers early June, when the girl told about what had happened to her. The Neamt court decided Fasola should be investigated at large. Later, Fasola fled the town.
The girl got pregnant after being raped, five months before, by her 19 year old uncle. She told her parents she had abdominal pains, and thinking it was appendicitis, the girl’s parents went to the clinic for an examination, which revealed the girl was in fact four months pregnant. The girl admitted she had been sexually molested by her uncle, in her grandmother’s house, and that she had been threatened she would be killed if she told anyone what had happened.
British doctors within the Royal London Hospital successfully terminated Friday afternoon the 22-week pregnancy of the Romanian 11 year-old girl, medical sources said.
The same sources said the abortion procedure was performed by a team of private doctors in London in a private ward of the hospital funded by the Marie Stopes International clinic in London.
Romania’s Embassy to London declined to comment on the case, as the girl’s mother required "total discretion."
Officials of the Marie Stopes Clinic in London said Thursday the girl will not have an abortion there, as they could not find an anesthesiology expert for 11-yeral old girls, since the clinic generally performs abortion procedures on girls aged over 12.
