Nastase said his file is nothing but a political scheme and stressed anticorruption prosecutors will get no statements from him.

Nastase is accused of funding his 2004 electoral campaign with the money paid by certain companies as participation fees in the "Quality Trophy" contest organized by the State Construction Inspectorate.

Upon leaving the National Anticorruption Department (DNA), Nastase said he took note of the charges brought against him, stressing he could not figure out why he was subpoenaed in the "Quality Trophy" file, since there is no incriminating evidence in this respect.

Nastase said prosecutors "displaced" his file to lay the blame on him without any prior approval from the Parliament.
