Romania hiked Wednesday the state aid granted to farmers who benefit from subsidies for diesel fuel used this year in agriculture by 49.2 million lei (EUR1=RON3.5370) to RON109.2 million.

The Government had previously decided to grant RON60 million to farmers who use diesel oil in their mechanized farm works.

Some 67,000 farmers benefited from the first tranche of these subsidies that helped them cultivate about 1.5 million hectares of land in spring.
