Romanian Head Of EU Affairs Dept Dismissed On Incompatibility Of Office

Romanian Premier Calin Popescu Tariceanu on Tuesday dismissed secretary of state Adrian Ciocanea-Teodorescu from his position as head of Department for European Affairs (DAE), over incompatibility of public offices, the government said in a press release.

Last week, Ciocanea-Teodorescu took the oath as member of Romania’s lower house, a public office which is incompatible with his position at DAE.

Ciocanea-Teodorescu will be replaced by Aurel Ciobanu-Dordea, the government said.

Under Romania’s Constitution, the public office of deputy or senator is incompatible with any other public office, excepting the position of government official.
