In this respect, the Russians are interested in concluding partnerships with Romanian producers, said the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Cooperation propositions were forwarded within seminars organized by the Chamber of Commerce in Bucharest, in collaboration with the Romanian-Russian Chamber of Commerce.

Projects worth an estimate $30 billion were developed for the Winter Olympics held in Sochi, said a press release issued by the Chamber.

Several companies in Bucharest will attend the Sochi 2014 Forum, organized between September 18 and 21, where talks will focus on the construction of the sports sites and the infrastructure of the Olympic competition.

"Official statistics place Russia third, after Italy and Germany, with respect for the value of imports, which was higher than $4.4 billion in 2007, while Romanian exports reaches some $600 million, with the total volume of bilateral exchanges reaching some $5 billion, thus marking a 15% growth compared to the previous year. Among the top foreign investors in the Romanian oil and natural gas industry we fid companies with large Russian capital," said the press release.

Romanian exports to Russia consisted mostly of cars (some 43%), electric machinery, devices and equipment (25%), plastic materials (7%) and chemical and pharmaceutical industry products (some 5%), while 90% of imports consisted of mineral products, crude oil, natural gas and solid fuels.

"Participants in the seminar identified other areas of interest for bilateral collaboration as well, such as the supply of oil machinery and connected services, mostly in bilateral commerce in the near future, as well as the energy sector, with a focus on the construction of a liquefied gas terminal, in a Danube port, either Tulcea or Braila. Other points of focus include the construction of a liquefied gas storage facility and a distribution network on a national level, with the possibility of exporting to other countries in the region," the Chamber said.

On the other hand, Chamber of Commerce said a series of Russian capital banks could finance the construction of important renewable energy capacities and the unfolding of joint energy research and development structures.

At the same time, Romanian piping production and expertise necessary for the extraction as well as the transport of oil and natural gas represent another area of cooperation between the two countries.
