National Lottery Stays Romania’s Most Valuable Brand In ’08, Worth EUR36M

Romania’s national lottery ‘Loteria Romana’ kept its position in 2008 as the country’s most valuable brand, estimated at EUR36 million, EUR1 million higher than last year, according to a ranking by the Vienna-based European Brand Institute.

The Romanian lottery ranks 694 in the top including 3,000 European brands.

Romania’s biggest gambling firm increased its brand value this year by 2.9%, or EUR1 million. In 2007, the lottery ranked 758 in the top.

But the brand of the Romanian lottery is still 100 times lower than Europe’s most valuable brand, Nokia, which is worth an estimated EUR38.283 billion.

The value of Romania’s top ten brands increased this year by 2.3% compared to 2007, to EUR88 million.

Nokia is followed in the European brand value study by France’s luxury brand LVMH with EUR34.907 billion, and mobile operator Vodafone with EUR24.128 billion.

The study examined more than 3,000 brand corporations in 24 countries and 16 industries.
