Tariceanu talked to Campeanu Thursday and suggested that she should replace the suspended labor minister Paul Pacuraru.
The presidential staff announced Tuesday morning that Basescu signed the decree suspending Paul Pacuraru from his position of labor minister a day before, given that the anticorruption prosecutors officially charged him with bribery.
The decree was published Tuesday afternoon in the Official Gazette.
Basescu said Thursday he has no objection to appointing Campeanu labor minister, as she is “a good professional”.
“The Prime Minister informed me of his decision to send me the letter nominating her as labor minister. I think there is no reason preventing me from appointing Mariana Campeanu,” he said.
“She has a vast experience and she is a good professional. She will be appointed labor minister,” Basescu said.
