“The education minister voted as Member of Parliament, although he should have had a different attitude and should have shown a different behavior to his colleagues in the liberal group,” Tariceanu answered when asked whether he plans to take any measure regarding the minister’s vote in favor of the 50% hike of wages in the education system.
Tariceanu said Adomnitei offered the correct arguments in his Parliament plea as education minister.
"In his address to Parliament, the minister presented his viewpoint and offered a serious line of argumentation on the matter. It is still his responsibility to solve this complicated situation,” Tariceanu added.
Tariceanu had a discussion with Adomnitei Wednesday on the latter’s position with regard to the wage hike in the education system, and said the 1% of Romania’s gross domestic product required by the hike would bring about other requests from unionists.
Tariceanu said the wage hike comes in an improper moment and would encourage other requests, people close to the matter told MEDIAFAX.
Adomnitei said he was aware of the unionist and public sector pressures generated by the vote in Parliament and told Tariceanu he could not have voted any other way, the quoted sources said.
Adomnitei told Tariceanu he estimates 1.4 billion lei (EUR1=RON3.7603) is needed to cover the wage hike in the first three months. Adomnitei will have a discussion on the matter with finance minister Varujan Vosganian.
