The Romanian Government said this measure was taken following this week’s discussions between Petre Roman, High Representative of the Government for Romanians abroad, and the representatives of Romanian communities in Madrid area.
The government also said it is analyzing the initiation of the necessary procedures enabling Romanian citizens to obtain identification documents from the general consulates of Romania.
"The Government supported the adoption by the Chamber of Deputies of the law on the lowering or the eliminations of consulate fees and on the exclusive use by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the sums derived from such taxes to help the Romanians abroad in need of immediate aid. The law was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies this week,” the Government informed.
