The Bucharest Stock Exchange board suspended trading Wednesday at 0808 GMT, after the market took a steep dive, with its main indices recording losses larger than 10%, while the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, plunged 14.64%.
At suspension time, the stock exchange’s composite index, or BET-C, was down 10.68%, while the BET index, which tracks the ten most liquid stocks, encountered losses of 9.25%.
The market’s total traded value was, at the time of suspension decision, RON10.1 million, 31% higher than Tuesday’s value in the same period.
The trading of derivatives was also suspended on Sibiu Monetary-Financial And Commodities Exchange, or BMFMS, after the Bucharest Stock Exchange suspension.
