It said Marian is to present his report in the next government meeting on October 14.

Romanian President Traian Basescu said Friday, referring to the huge salaries of several heads of government agencies, that these agencies gradually became the “money land” of the government‘s political clientele.

Asked to comment on the issue, the head of state said these agencies became "the money land of government‘s political clientele," adding it is high time somebody put an end to this situation.

According to Basescu, the “huge” salaries getting into the hands of several heads of government agencies clearly show that things really got out of control.

In reply, Tariceanu said the head of state was wrong in saying that government-run institutions receive rewards.

“Wrong. Nobody is rewarded. These are the salaries that function in Romania, and not just now – the same salaries functioned four years ago as well (…),” Tariceanu said.
