Romanian Prognosis Commission Revises Dn ’09 GDP Forecast To 6%

Romania’s National Prognosis Commission CNP has revised down, in its final fall prognosis, its gross domestic product estimation for next year to 6%, from 6.5% in the preliminary report.

For the end of 2008, the Commission has maintained its estimation at 9.1% of GDP.

According to CNP, Romania’s GDP will stand at 505 billion lei (EUR1=RON3.6875) in 2008.

For 2009, the Commission forecasts a RON578.5 billion GDP for 2009.

The 2009 budget draft, which is still pending government approval, was built on a deficit of 2% of GDP and an economic growth of 6%.
