Romania’s Fin Ministry, EIB To Sign Mon EUR1B Loan Agreement

Romania’s Economy and Finance Ministry will sign on Monday a loan agreement with the European Investment Bank, or EIB, worth EUR1 billion, to finance transports, environment and economic competitiveness projects, sources close to the matter told MEDIAFAX on Thursday.

In October, EIB approved two loans for Romania totaling EUR1.026 billion to co-finance structural and cohesion programs in Romania.

The first loan, of EUR1 billion, represents a co-financing of the funds for the structural and cohesion programs in Romania, and will be directed toward environmental, economic competition and transportat operational programs.

The second loan, of EUR26 million, will be given for upgrades and expansion of water and sewerage systems in the northern Romanian counties of Cluj and Salaj, the ministry said in a statement.
