Romanian Forestry Auth To Cut Down Over 100,000 Christmas Tress This Year

Romania’s national forestry authority Romsilva will cut down and sell 104,400 Christmas tress this year, the authority said Thursday.

"Compared to 2007, we’ll cut down 19,450 less trees, as some of our forest areas have been returned to their former owners," Romsilva said in a press release.

Minimum sale prices will vary, depending on the height of the trees, between 10 and 20 lei (EUR1=RON3.8131), VAT not included.

"Demand for trees higher than three meters will be considered special orders and their price will be approved by the board of directors of local forestry authorities, starting from a minimum RON20 per meter," Romsilva said.
