Voter Turnout Countrywide At 34.48% By GMT 1600

Romania’s voter turnout by GMT 1600 was of 34.48%, Central Election Office spokesman Marian Muhulet said Sunday.

Turnout in rural areas was 40.06% and in urban areas it stood at 30.43% by GMT 1600, Muhulet said.

 

The Central Election Office also said turnout was higher than the national average in 24 counties out of the country’s 41, and the highest turnout was recorded in counties Teleorman (47.06%), Vrancea (43.16%), Giurgiu (42.05%), Ilfov ( 41.72%) and Neamt (41.31%).
 

 

The lowest turnout was recorded in counties Timis (26.50%), Covasna (28.27%), Sibiu (29.54%) Arad (30.07%) and Brasov (30.64%).

 

Polls close in less than one hour and a half, at GMT 1900.
