"The mandate is clear: the party president will spearhead these talks (negotiations with other parties). We will form a negotiation team as we go," Geoana said.
Asked if so far he has been contacted by other parties, Geoana avoided answering but said: "Even if I was, I would not tell you at this time."
The social democrat leader added each of the Parliament parties is expecting the final count, so that positions are clear.
"I am convinced that afterwards, in the days to come, talks will start off, maybe with the media at the door," Geoana added.
He reiterated the social democrat stance, namely the next Government should be led by his party, which should also put forth a Prime Minister. At the same time, Geoana let on that the social democrat will only enter the Government if the Prime Minister is one appointed from their ranks.
"Obviously, in a democracy, whoever wins the elections and has a majority, puts forth the Prime Minister," Geoana said.
He added he received messages from important leaders abroad. "Messages started coming in from abroad in this matter: Sunday, the Prime Minister of Spain, great number of important leaders in the UK, Germany, said in Romania too the sovereign will of the voters must be observed," Geoana said.
