“It will fall on Member States to take responsibility if the money is not used under EU standards,” Basescu told reporters, referring to possible misused funds following simplified procedures.
Basescu said Romania will endorse plans to bailout the European car industry and the small- and medium-sized companies through increased financing from the European Investment Bank.
The European Council’s agenda also includes a draft law package on energy and climate, which will receive full support from the Romanian authorities, Basescu mentioned.
The Romanian head of state was invited to attend the winter works of the European Council, as well as the summit of the European People’s Party.
