“The Bulgarian premier and the Romanian president called me,” Putin told Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and Federal Customs Service head Andrei Belyaninov. “They are extremely concerned over the current events.”

Basescu’s spokesperson, Valeriu Turcan, confirmed that the head of state talked to Putin on the phone, but declined to provide further details.

Ukraine has closed the last pipeline that pumped Russian gas to Europe, Gazprom’s export chief Alexander Medvedev said Wednesday.

All Russian gas supplies to Romania were halted Wednesday morning, after deliveries were also cut at Mediesu Aurit gas import station at around GMT 0700.
