Licu was the only candidate for this position and is the only prosecutor within the Council who has not held any leading positions within the Council so far.
Judge Virgil Andreies, 48, was also elected president of the Council on Thursday, with unanimity of votes, and was the only candidate for this position.
Under the Constitution, the president and vice-president of the Council are elected for a one-year mandate, which cannot be renewed.
