Russian Gas Imports Still Cut, Romania’s Gas Transport System Safe – Transgaz Official

Russian gas supplies to Romania through Ukraine are still ceased and the national gas transmission system is safe, Marius Stroia, a manager in Romania’s state-owned gas pipeline operator Transgaz (TGN.RO), told MEDIAFAX on Friday.

"Imports are still at a halt, the situation is unchanged, but everything is under control," Stroia said.

All Russian gas exports to Romania were halted Wednesday morning and the country’s consumption needs are currently covered by local production and stocks.

Due to the lack of imported natural gas, Romanian authorities decided that thermal power plants would switch to alternative fuels, as coal and fuel oil, to save gas.
