"I am not pleased and I think there are also deficiencies at the Ministry of Transport, which could not grasp such a project. This is the reality of it. We cannot ignore the fact that large projects need to be monitored, if they are not monitored, they go on without guidance," said liberal leader and former prime minister Calin Tariceanu.
Tariceanu avoided making other comments regarding former liberal transport minister Ludovic Orban.
Orban recently announced his intention to run for the leadership of the National Liberal Party.
The project for the construction of the Transylvania Highway, on the Brasov-Bors segment, began in 2004, based on a EUR2.2 billion contract granted to American company Bechtel. Works were halted mid-2005, when authorities began reanalyzing the contracts concluded by the previous Government. Due to the cease of works, the initially set 2012 deadline was pushed back one year.
