The Agency received layoff notifications from 48 companies in the city, AMOFM Bucharest’s director Dumitru Pelican said.
Out of the 11,300 workers who are about to lose their jobs, only 2,300 reside in Bucharest. The remaining 9,000 employees will have to return to their localities to receive unemployment benefits.
Some 23 companies in Bucharest’s neighboring Prahova County also announced layoffs trough January to March, the county unemployment agency said Wednesday.
The 23 companies are to let go 3,165 employees total, the agency said.
