Romanian CFR Calatori To Buy 20 Railroad Carriages For Car Transport

Romania’s state-owned passenger railway company CFR Calatori will buy, in the next three years, 20 railroad carriages from railway carriage maker Atelierele CFR Grivita, worth 14.5 million lei (EUR1=RON4.2340), VAT not included, for the transport of vehicles.

The railroad cars acquisition will be financed from the state budget.

The contract was assigned last December, based on the lowest price, and Atelierele CFR Grivita was the only bidder.

CFR Calatori representatives stated in May 2008 that the company would launch a car transport service, for passengers using night trains.
