“We have in mind investments in one spa in Tusnad and another one in Praid. The projects, whose value reaches EUR20 million, will be initiated this year. I don’t know when they’ll be completed,” Udrea said the International Tourism Exchange in Milan, Italy.
She said local authorities are in charge of these projects, and the ministry will contribute by EUR20 million.
She said another partnership might be signed with the company Foradex, that owns the exploitation license of thermal springs in northern Bucharest.
“Foradex came up with the idea of a partnership with the Tourism Ministry, to develop a spa near Bucharest. It was their suggestion and it should be assessed,” Udrea said.
“We’ve received requests from several private companies in Dubai and Saudi Arabia, that showed interest in Romania’s balneal tourism,” she added.
Udrea said she will meet with the representatives of these companies and recommend them investment spots.
Udrea said Romania has 2,000 thermal springs, the majority of which have not been exploited.
