Romanian Noncommissioned Officer Arrested For Treason

A noncommissioned officer of the Romanian Defense Ministry was arrested for treason and accused of having sold classified NATO information to a Bulgarian citizen, who was also arrested.

The documents, taken out from the Army’s database, were to reach representatives on non-NATO member states, according to prosecutors of Romania’s Department Investigating organized Crime and Terrorism, or DIICOT.
 
Noncommissioned officer Floricel Achim and Bulgarian citizen Petar Marinov Zikolov were arrested Saturday.
 
Achim and Zikolov were charged with treason, giving away classified information and espionage, jeopardizing national security.
