"I never said we would implement the lump sum tax in the construction sector. We will certainly not touch this sector because we want to stimulate it," Pogea said in a press conference.

According to him, the main fields in which the Government plans to apply the proposed tax are the retail and the wholesale sectors, alongside with  hotels, restaurants and transport services sectors.

The Romanian Government plans to introduce the lump sum tax and discard the profit tax "for the hundreds of thousands of companies that report losses," in order to control tax payments more efficiently, Pogea said earlier Wednesday. He added the lump sum would reduce bureaucracy.
