Major Smuggling Catch At Romanian Customs House

Romanian border police with the western customs house of Nadlac discovered Monday night about 370,000 packs of contraband cigarettes, hidden in a truck carrying hamburger buns on its way to Germany.

According to the Press Office of the Arad County Border Police Inspectorate, the cigarettes were found in a truck transporting hamburger buns from Greece to Germany. The seized goods are worth EUR520,000.
 
The truck driver claimed he was unaware of the cigarettes.
 
This last week, the Arad County border authority discovered smuggled cigarettes destined for black markets in Schengen countries, worth approximately EUR1 million.
