"The Romanian seaside welcomed nearly 10,000 tourists for Easter, who, according to hotel owners’ estimations, spent a few million euros, while Bukovina welcomed nearly 25,000 tourists, who spent nearly EUR4 million," Udrea said.
Around 70,000 Romanians spent the Easter holiday in resorts in the country, 10% more than in the same period of 2008, while 25,000 traveled abroad, a level similar to the one recorded last year, according to the Romanian National Tourism Agency Association (ANAT).
Their main destinations were the mountain resorts in Valea Prahovei and Bran-Moeciu (over 35,000 people), the Black Sea (over 10,000, with more than 20,000 people attending events on the seaside) and the northern region of Bukovina (8,000 tourists), an ANAT statement said.
