Sarbu added the defender will remain under observation for the next 24 hours.

Steaua were headed for Buzau city, southeast Romania, when the assailant threw a rock at the bus’ window, injuring Golanski, Ilfov Police spokeswoman Elena Bucur said.

The assailant got on a minivan and disappeared before the officials arrived at the scene, Bucur mentioned.

Golanski will not be available for Steaua’s League I match with Gloria Buzau at 9 pm on Tuesday, football club spokesman Catalin Fainisi said.

Steaua rank fourth in Romania’s League I with 48 points, 10 points behind the leaders from Dinamo Bucharest.
