Marius Lacatus Steps Down As Steaua Bucharest Coach

Marius Lacatus resigned as coach of FC Steaua Bucharest on Sunday, May 17, according to a release on the football club’s official website.

Lacatus said he made this decision following talks with Steaua owner George Becali, adding this is the best decision both for him and the team, the release also read.
 
Lacatus thanked all those who supported him and said he was sorry he could not bring out better performances. 
 
Italian Massimo Pedrazzini will take over as interim coach of Steaua Bucharest.
 
Lacatus was appointed coach of Steaua Bucharest in the autumn of 2007, following Gheorghe Hagi’s resignation and the interim term of secondary coach Pedrazzini.
 
Lacatus first resigned as Steaua coach on October 22, 2008 in the wake of the 5-3 UEFA Champions League home defeat against Olympique Lyonnais and was replaced with Dorinel Munteanu. However, Lacatus returned to Steaua after nearly two months.
