Basescu pointed out this very aspect prompts him to carefully consider his running for re-election this autumn, adding he does not know if he is willing to put up with another five years of humiliations.
The head of state said that both him and his family are constantly criticized, offended and humiliated and referred to media frenzy over the past few months regarding the apartment his elder daughter Ioana bought last year in a residential complex built by a company owned by controversial businessman Puiu Popoviciu.
Basescu said he is sick and tired of endless and nagging discussions on this issue and highlighted that, regardless of the apartment location, the issue would have still stirred things up.
Speaking about the media, Basescu added “there is a tacit partnership” between him and the press, which, he said “would be perfect, if it were not for so many offenses."
