It said the three Romanian patients are currently treated at the infectious diseases hospital “Matei Bals” in Bucharest and that their evolution is favorable.

Romania identified its “patient zero” on May 27 in a 30-year-old woman who recently arrived from New York.

Two secondary infections with the new influenza virus were later confirmed in her 14-month-old baby and her father.

The authorities identified and testes 22 people who came in contact with the patient zero prior to her admittance to the hospital.

None of the 22 people is infected, the Health Ministry said.

“To avoid confusion, the specialists with the ministry’s Coordination Committee underscore the new A-H1N1 influenza virus is a human virus, whose transmission is exclusively from person to person,” the ministry said.

The new A-H1N1 flu virus has infected so far 15,510 people in 53 countries worldwide, leaving another 99 people dead.

In Europe, 480 infections were confirmed.
