Thus, the four defendants, namely, FC Arges owner, Cornel Penescu, Pic store manager Liviu Facaleata, the former manager of the Arges County Consumer Protection Office, Cristian Libertatu, and former head of the Central Commission of Referees (CCA), Gheorghe Constantin, returned to custody.
On May 11, the same court decided to discontinue the preventive arrest warrants of the four defendants, but prosecutors appealed the court’s decision on May 12 and the defendants remained under arrest for at least 30 days. Their arrest warrants expire on June 10.
In the refereeing corruption trial, on April 14 anticorruption prosecutors arrested Penescu, Constantin, Facaleata and Libertatu. Penescu and Facaleata are charged with offering bribe, while Constantin and Libertatu are charged with taking bribe.
