Boc visited a cow farm in the southern locality of Contesti, Dambovita County and held talks with the farmers in the region, who denounced the inaccessibility of funds granted via the Farmer program.
The program “must be redone, it has been developed in 2007 by Mr. Flutur (former agriculture minister Gheorghe Flutur – e.n.) and we are now carrying talks with the European Commission,” Boc told the farmers in Contesti.
Romania’s Farmer program provides advantageous lending terms for investments in agriculture. The program is meant both for investors who benefit from EU financing and for those who do not.
However, farmers who access simultaneously EU financing and financing provided through the Farmer program do not benefit from discount of the amount due to be reimbursed, as the European Commission said this would represent state aid.
