Romania To Cut No Of Govt Agencies To Half By Mid-July

Romania will cut its number of government agencies to half by July 15, except for structures that have been created following negotiations with the European Union, of which Romania is a member,. Prime Minister Emil Boc said late Tuesday.

"The plan is to reduce the number of government agencies by 50%, by eliminating or grouping them, except those negotiated with the EU, such as the National Authority Regulating and Monitoring Public Procurement, the National Regulatory Authority in the Energy Sector and other such agencies that are EU-required,” Boc said after the Cabinet meeting Tuesday.
 
He added government members will decide in the next two weeks which agencies would be decommissioned or grouped.
