Glider Pilot Injured In Forced Landing Near Bucharest

A glider pilot was injured on Monday after he made a forced landing on a sunflower field between localities Mihailesti and Clinceni, near Romania’s capital city Bucharest.

The pilot suffered thoracic, vertebral, and lumbar injuries and the rescue team will fly him by chopper to Floreasca emergency hospital.
 
Transport Ministry’s director of investigations, Mircea Ciuca said the pilot had probably lost the airflow and had to make a forced landing on an unknown terrain.
 
The IS-29 glider was destroyed almost completely in the accident, Ciuca said.
 
Ciuca mentioned a team will be sent to the site to investigate the accident.
 
On Friday, Romanian pilot and skydiver Mugurel Constantin Uta (37) died after his plane crashed and caught fire soon after take-off in a field in Clinceni.
