“Monica Macovei was nominated for the position of president of the EP delegation to the Republic of Moldova, her election is 100% sure, so it only has to become official. The delegation will be probably formed in September,” Marinescu said.

Marinescu mentioned other nominees for leading positions within the European Parliament, namely Theodor Stolojan for the vice-presidency of the Committee on Economic Affairs, Rares Niculescu for the vice-presidency of the Committee on Agriculture, Sebastian Bodu for the vice-presidency of the Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) and Traian Ungureanu for the vice-presidency of the recently set up APE Euronest, which is active in the relation with East-European states.

Marinescu said their appointment for the respective positions is as certain as in Macovei’s case, and will become official on Thursday or on Monday in Brussels.
