Romanian President To Go On Official Visit To Turkmenistan July 21-22

Romanian President Traian Basescu will be on official visit to Turkmenistan on July 21 – 22, at the invitation of Turkmenistan’s acting President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, the Presidency announced.

Basescu’s visit to Ashgabat, the capital and largest city of Turkmenistan, Central Asia, will mark 17 years since Romania and Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations.

The Romanian president will also meet with Turkmenistan’s Parliament Speaker Akdzha Nurberdyeva.
 
Berdymukhamedov said he is convinced Basescu’s visit will "strengthen the close relationship between the two countries and it will also help develop a fruitful dialogue with EU member states in the future."
 
Basescu welcomed Turkmenistan’s president at the presidential Cotroceni Palace in July 2008, when they signed several agreements targeting economic cooperation and investments.
