All tour operators estimate a 20% fall in sales for this year, Corina Martin, head of the association, said after the seminar Mediafax Talks about Romanian Tourism.

“All agencies expect a 20% decrease of sales. On the outgoing segment, the current real decrease is at 20%. We see a slight increase on the local segment compared to 2008, if we take into account that trips abroad have been preferred so far. The crisis has brought a national benefit from this perspective, and the 20% fall is a reasonable percentage, as this is a year of crisis and we must expect decrease,” Martin said.

She said Romanians choose cheaper packs for the outgoing segment.

According to her, seaside hotel tariffs fell 20% in this period, whereas in the same interval a year ago they rose by 15%.

Last weekend, the occupancy rate of the seaside hotels reached 100% for the first time this year, she said.
